Step 2: Components of a crisis communication plan

The following elements should be part of your crisis communication plan:

  • What is the situation and what will be communicated
  • Who communicates in public and who does not: your spokespersons
  • What materials and messages need to be produced or posted
  • Who should be involved in the process
  • Who needs to be kept updated (both internally and externally)
  • What are the telephone numbers of the key people (all of those mentioned above) that need to be stand by 24/7 in case of emergencies
