Organisation Women Development Organization
Country Sri Lanka
Type Local Civil Society Organisation
Topic Human Rights

Summary

This example describes the process to strengthen the Asian Muslim Women Union. The Women Development Organization, which made the problem analysis and guided all further steps, made excellent use of the tools and techniques they learned during their Mobilising Support training in 2019, conducted by ASM, national Change the Game Academy partner in Sri Lanka. Here are a few of the tools they used:

• Group discussion about the problem and the solution, using the problem tree and solution tree.
• Stakeholder analysis: Identification and analysis of stakeholders.
• The CLASP tool as well as the power triangle and ladder were used.
• An action plan was prepared through participatory approach.
• Together with the relevant stakeholders a concept note and proposal was written.

Problem analysis

Lack of knowledge on the part of the religious leader that prevented the existing Asian Muslim Women Union from reorganising, registering and strengthening itself as a civil society organisation.

Solution analysis

Sensitise volunteers to organise and mobilise women's groups and raise awareness on reorganising, strengthening and registering the existing women development union with the help of identified stakeholders.
