By now you know if social media are a good option for you and if so, what platform is your best option. Another major question is: Who is going to post, monitor and respond?
It is best to make one person responsible for social media. Make sure this person gets enough time to collect, create and monitor the content on your social media and, if needed, gets assistance. Also see to it that everyone else within the organisation understands the importance of social media and supplies the responsible person with input if they hear about relevant news or topics. Also encourage your staff to share the messages through their own social media accounts.
And last but certainly not least: if you gained some experience and it looks like you are going to succeed in social media, supply the online person with budget to use to reach a bigger audience.
HOOTSUITE
If you are operating a variety of channels on a regular basis, consider adopting HootSuite or other free program to schedule messages across all of your channels.
This allows messages to be posted on multiple platforms and scheduled in advance. It can save a great deal of time.
However we advice to only start using this after having it done manually for the first couple of months. It is important to get a good feel and idea of what is going on, how things look and are processed.
